Linary Church of Christ: Missions

Evangelism in other locations is what the Missions ministry is all about. We are anxious to support those who are spreading the Good News, whether in foreign lands or here in the USA. We try to focus our efforts in just a few places for more impact. As our budget has grown, we have added new works.

We believe in the personal touch. Several of our members have participated in foreign missions. Modern transportation has made all the difference!

Missions in the Budget

Paraguay, South America	Chris & Vickie Fry Linary is the sponsoring congregation for the Frys, who left in Sept. 2003 for Asunción, Paraguay on a 5-year commitment. They were in training from Sept. 2002 until April 2003 and then spent the time until they left with us here at Linary. Ghana, West Africa	Local preachers: We support quite a number of native preachers, either fully or partially. Photos of supported preachers. Michael Ingram Travels to Ghana every year or two to teach and deliver assistance to local ministries. Linary has assisted with travel expenses. Others sometimes accompany him. 	Kathy Page, Kathy Coleman, Callie Shanks, and Scot Shanks went to Ghana in Oct. 2006. Scot recruited a team through Rotary International to provide well digging equipment and training. The two Kathy's did women's seminars. Callie visited schools and orphanages.
Central America - Health Talents International	Health Talents International sponsors medical missions to Belize, Guatemala & Nicaragua. Cameroon, Africa	Jim Corner travels to Cameroon, Africa, several times a year, supporting native congregations and their preachers.
China	China Now recruits Christians to teach in Chinese universities. A former Linary member and his family has been doing this and are now stationed stateside to manage the recruitment and support of such teachers along with a former preacher from Linary.
Montgomery ICM	Montgomery Inner City Mission in Montgomery, Alabama - Jonathan Mosby.
Thicket Road Church of Christ Capetown, South Africa	Michael Jacobs and his family (wife Gail, sons Jesse & Jordan) have returned to South Africa after Mike finished his Master's degree at Freed-Hardeman University. They worked with Linary during their summers in the USA. They are working with the Thicket Road congregation in the Cape Town area. Web site for their church

Tanzania 2001	Marlo Tollett for 2 months in May, 2001
Mexico 2002	Melinda Covington - A group from the States started building a church building. Other groups will complete the job.
AIM, Lubbock, Texas	Melissa Covington Linary sponsored Melissa as she attended AIM (Adventures in Missions), which is a 2-year commitment to study and experience mission work. Melissa's newsletters - First

Honduras	Ruth Hale's daughter Cheryl leads a medical mission trip to Honduras each spring. Linary provides many of the supplies and medicines for the trip.
World Bible School	Monthly support and materials and postage for Bible correspondence lessons. We are working with students in Ghana and Nigeria.
Russia	Christian Singing School conducts week-long schools in Russia and the Ukraine to teach congregational singing using a team of volunteer singers and song directors. Not in our budget, but several members have supported this work.
